Ana Vidovic Live: Classical Guitar Concert at St. Mark’s, San Francisco

Croatian guitarist Ana Vidovic is one of the most admired classical guitarists of her generation, known for a flawless technique that never gets in the way of the music. This full recital at St. Mark’s in San Francisco was presented by the Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts, which hosts a long-running classical guitar series in the city.

What to listen for

• Tone control. Notice how she shifts colour by moving the right hand closer to or further from the bridge.
• Tremolo and clarity. Fast repeated notes stay perfectly even.
• Phrasing. Melodies breathe like a singer’s, even in technically demanding passages.
